When you’re creating a new Facebook password, you might be wondering what the rules and minimum requirements are for your new password.
Minimum length
A minimum of 6 characters is required.
Maximum length
We tried up to 500 characters and it still worked. So we conclude there is no maximum limit.
Minimum complexity
You are free to use numbers, letters and punctuation marks and we advise to mix them up, but there are no special complexity requirements.
Password history
If you change an existing password, the new one must be different from the last 6 passwords.
Security tip
To avoid your account from being hacked, your Facebook password should be different from your email password.
